About the Venue

Four Venues, One Property

Texas Old Town sits on 55 acres of Hill Country land between Austin and San Antonio, in Kyle, Texas. The property includes four distinct event venues — Tejas, Sage, Redbud, and Stone — each with its own character, alongside century-old live oak trees throughout the grounds.

Tejas, the largest of the four, was hand-built by the property's owner to evoke a classic Texas dance hall, with rough-cut lumber floors and a wraparound porch. The other three venues offer their own distinct interior styles, giving couples real flexibility depending on guest count and aesthetic.

Hill Country Live Oaks Four Distinct Halls Kyle, TX
Why Couples Choose It

Rustic Charm With Room to Grow

Texas Old Town suits couples who want a true Hill Country feel — oak trees, open grounds, and a rustic dance hall atmosphere — without sacrificing guest capacity. Tejas alone can host up to 320 guests, making it one of the larger venues in the area for couples with big families or guest lists.

Shooting Madeleine and Alexander's wedding here, what stood out to us was how much the live oaks do for the light. The canopy creates natural dappled shade across the grounds, which gave us a lot to work with for portraits without needing to chase open shade elsewhere on the property.

Photography Considerations

Light, Layout, and Timing at Texas Old Town

Natural Light

The live oak canopy across the property creates natural dappled shade, which holds up well for portraits even mid-afternoon.

Indoor Spaces

Tejas leans into a rustic dance hall feel with rough-cut lumber floors; the other three halls each have their own distinct interior character.

Golden Hour

The open grounds and oak-lined pathways give good options for golden hour portraits without needing to leave the property.

Reception Lighting

Tejas's elevated stage and dance floor area read well under both string lighting and a DJ's standard setup.

Quick Answers

Common Planning Questions

Is Texas Old Town better for daytime or evening weddings?

Both work well — the oak canopy gives good coverage for a daytime ceremony, and Tejas's dance hall really comes alive in the evening.

Where are the best portrait locations?

The live oak groves throughout the property and the wraparound porch on Tejas were our favorite spots shooting Madeleine and Alexander's wedding.

What's the rain backup?

Each of the four halls offers indoor reception space, so weather isn't a major concern for the reception portion of the day.

What's the best season to get married here?

Spring and fall, to take advantage of the outdoor grounds without Texas summer heat.

Can family photos happen indoors?

Yes — Tejas in particular has enough open floor space for larger group formals.

Is flash allowed?

We didn't run into restrictions photographing Madeleine and Alexander's wedding, but always confirm current venue policy when you book.

Planning Tips

What We'd Suggest

If you want portraits under the live oaks, build that into your timeline before the reception starts — the light there is one of the property's strongest features.

Confirm which of the four venues (Tejas, Sage, Redbud, or Stone) fits your guest count, since they vary in size and character.

Texas Old Town typically offers a long rental window — ask about your specific hours so hair, makeup, and setup have enough time.

Ask about their preferred vendor list and how much flexibility you have to bring in your own.
