How to Get Ready for Individual Player Portraits
A parent's guide to individual sports portraits in Austin — what to wear, what to bring, and simple tips for a confident, print-worthy photo.
Individual player portraits are the ones parents frame and grandparents ask for. A little preparation makes a big difference — here's how to help your athlete look and feel their best.
What to Wear
- A clean, complete uniform — the version your athlete would wear on game day.
- Socks pulled up and shoes or cleats that match the uniform.
- If your team has multiple jerseys, ask ahead which one is being used.
- Skip the jewelry and stray hair ties on the wrist — small details show up in close portraits.
What to Bring
- The gear that tells the story — glove and ball, bat, racket, stick, or ball for the sport.
- A comb or brush and a hair tie for quick touch-ups.
- A water bottle, especially for warm-weather sessions.
A quick snack and water before the session go a long way. A comfortable, unhurried athlete photographs far better than a rushed one.
Looking Confident on Camera
Your athlete doesn't need to know how to pose — that's our job. We'll guide posture, grip, and expression so it feels natural. To help at home:
- Practice a relaxed, genuine smile — and a confident "game face" too, since both make great frames.
- Remind them that strong posture (shoulders back, chin level) reads as confidence.
- Keep it light. The best expressions come when an athlete is relaxed, not stiff.
What to Expect
Individual portraits are quick and painless. We'll capture a few looks — a classic portrait, a gear or hero pose, and a natural smile — so you have options to choose from in your gallery. Fully edited images are typically delivered within about a week.
Clean uniform, the right gear, and a relaxed athlete. Bring those three and you'll have portraits worth printing.
